This tour, which surely features high levels of blood sugar, will make you discover all the six "Sestrieri" (neighbourhoods) of Venice: Castello, San Marco, Dorsoduro, San Polo, Santa Croce and Cannaregio, including a panoramic view of the Giudecca island.
This tour is meant for sweet tooth connoisseurs, eager to taste the traditions and the cultural richness of the city through its historical bakeries, cafés and pastry shops!
Espresso coffees, delicious pastries, ice creams and tiramisù will power you across dozens of bridges we will face!
We will stop in local bakeries which provided Venetians with fresh reasons to roll out of bed over centuries; in historical cafès surrounded by baroque mirrors; in shops serving the top quality of creams and pastries where gondoliers and venetian housewives flock to devour the buttery, just-baked sweetness of Venetian specialties.
You will be mesmerized by traditional cream puffs and biscuits surrounded by the pleasant smell of Italian espresso.

What To Expect

Scuola Grande di San Marco
We boost energies to face our discovery walk around Venice in a traditional pastry shop serving sweet treats to Venetians since 1879 in a dramatically beatiful neighbourhood close to San Giovanni & Paolo church

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

We will continue our walk in the Venetian tradition with a "zaeto", a cornmeal biscuit with sultanas in a local bakery close to San Marco

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Piazza San Marco
We will indulge by stopping at the bar counter of an historical cafè in Saint Mark's square. For instance at the one preferred by the opera composer Richard Wagner, surrounded by baroque mirrors and politically incorrect antique moor's head chandeliers
Do you want to add some energy to your espresso? We will ask it a "corretto" ! (coffee corrected with "grappa" liquor)

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Fondamenta Zattere
We will cross the Canal Grande with a short gondola ride and we will reach the Zattere in the arty Dorsoduro district. We will enjoy delicious scoops of ice cream in a "gelateria"-shop which was a favourite of Peggy Guggenheim and, more recently, of Angelina Jolie

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Campo San Barnaba
Feel like true Venetian eating the typical biscuit from the island of Burano. We will taste the original recipe in a local family bakery active since 1956

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Campo Santa Margherita
Moving towards the Santa Croce district, we cannot miss a bakery where every Venetian has been at least once in his life. In this famous place the offer is so wide it will mesmerize you! Probably a cup of Tiramisù, the most famous Italian dessert could be a good choice!

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

San Polo
Zabaione is the most tyical pastry filling in Venice, lightly alcoholic due to the Marsala liquor and extremely tasty. We will try it in a pastry shop, which has been a corner bakery since 1742, whose reputatio of krapfen (cream puffs) strudel and venetian donuts has survived many "acqua alta" (high tides)

15 minutes • Admission Ticket Free

Campo del Ghetto
Entering the Cannaregio district and the oldest Jewish ghetto in the world, we cannot miss to taste some pastry in a traditional kosher bakery. Bite after bite you will discover and understand more about the multi-cultural richness of the city and of its historical communities

We really enjoyed our tour with Valerio! It was the best breakfast we had in Venice!
Valerio showed us a lot of typical, local cafes in these beautiful corners of Venice, explaining us a many historical, anecdotal and funny details...
Valerio was very flexible and open to our needs and gave us many other precious tips for the rest of our journey in Venice!
Amazingly Sweet Experience

The Cafe and Pastry tour with Valerio was an amazing experience! We had a walk all around Venice, stopping to taste typical sweets and good coffees in authentic shops where Venetian goes. Cafe Florian was surely the most scenographic, but the less known Colussi and Rizzardini were surely the most interesting. Valerio was a great guide, explaining all the Venetian traditions and giving us very useful tips on Venice. Highly recommended!
